America K. Gomez is a board-certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner with extensive training and experience in the diagnosis and treatment of mental health and co-occurring substance use disorders across the lifespan. She combines her medical foundation as a foreign medical graduate from Universidad de Los Andes in Venezuela with advanced nursing training in the United States, including an Associate in Science, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and a Master of Science in Nursing.
Since 2017, America has practiced as a psychiatric nurse practitioner in community mental health, inpatient and outpatient psychiatry, and substance use disorder treatment programs. Her clinical experience includes mood and anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress, bipolar spectrum conditions, psychotic disorders, and co-occurring substance use disorders. She also has significant experience working with children and adolescents, including those with neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorder and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder.
America provides trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and recovery-oriented care. She is bilingual in English and Spanish and is committed to increasing access to psychiatric services for Spanish-speaking individuals and families. Her practice emphasizes accurate diagnosis, evidence-based psychopharmacology, collaboration with therapists and primary care providers, and education for patients and families to support long-term stability and wellness.
