Experienced Mental Health Care Professionals

At Larson Mental Health, we’ve assembled a talented team of psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners in Colorado (PMHNPs) who are trained to assess, diagnose, and treat those with mental health conditions. By working closely with patients to prevent, identify, and manage symptoms of various mental health conditions, our team can help improve your quality of life and your long-term mental wellness. And with offices across the state, we have many highly trained and qualified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners in Denver, Boulder, Fort Collins, and Highlands Ranch to support your mental health goals.

Our PMHNPs are experts in psychopharmacology, which means we possess an in-depth knowledge of all psychiatric medications, how each one affects brain chemistry, and how to effectively prescribe them for optimal outcomes. If you’re looking for ways to mitigate your symptoms and improve your mental health, our talented team can help.

Colleen has practiced as a nurse and nurse practitioner for 37 years, mainly with a pediatric focus but now in psychiatry for the past 3 years. She obtained her diploma in nursing, then went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Masters of Science in Nursing with a Family Nurse Practitioner focus. During her time working with new moms and babies, it became clear that mental health touched her practice, and she felt compelled to focus on the mental health needs of this population. She then continued with a Doctorate of Nursing Practice and her Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner post-master's certificate with a family focus.

Colleen started her nursing career in Canada and worked on inpatient pediatric units for several years. She then moved to the US and became a travel nurse for many years, before settling in Atlanta GA for 10 years and now in Colorado for the past 19 years. Her main practice focus was pediatrics including inpatient, outpatient clinics, urgent and emergency department, adolescent medicine, mom/baby home visits and telephone triage. She also worked in adult post-surgical and telemetry units.

She firmly believes that she is part of a team when meeting with clients and that the person seeking her help is the expert. She feels honored when someone steps out of their comfort zone to seek guidance. Colleen has a passion and drive to address mental health conditions in children and adults. She has acquired expertise in treating, ADHD, PTSD, autism, depression, postpartum depression, anxiety, panic disorder, insomnia, eating difficulties, school concerns, anger issues, substance use, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, and neurocognitive disorders with behavioral disturbances.
