Experienced Mental Health Care Professionals

At Larson Mental Health, we’ve assembled a talented team of psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners in Colorado (PMHNPs) who are trained to assess, diagnose, and treat those with mental health conditions. By working closely with patients to prevent, identify, and manage symptoms of various mental health conditions, our team can help improve your quality of life and your long-term mental wellness. And with offices across the state, we have many highly trained and qualified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners in Denver, Boulder, Fort Collins, and Highlands Ranch to support your mental health goals.

Our PMHNPs are experts in psychopharmacology, which means we possess an in-depth knowledge of all psychiatric medications, how each one affects brain chemistry, and how to effectively prescribe them for optimal outcomes. If you’re looking for ways to mitigate your symptoms and improve your mental health, our talented team can help.

A native Vermonter, Dan has lived in the Western United States for more than half of his life. After completing undergraduate degrees in psychology and kinesiology at the University of Colorado in Boulder, Dan entered a PhD training program, studying neuroscience at the University of Arizona, where he had the opportunity to volunteer with a hospice program in Tucson. This experience clarified that working directly with people who were experiencing life’s sometimes overwhelming and significant challenges is where he needed to be.

Leaving the PhD program, Dan went on to complete a master’s in nursing at Sonoma State University. For the next 12 years Dan worked in both medical and psychiatric nursing in a variety of clinical settings in both California and Colorado. Following Covid Dan transitioned to focus exclusively on psychiatric care, working in a refractory depression clinic, addressing issues related to depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and catatonia. In 2022, he began a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program at Regis University in Denver. More recently, Dan has been working as a nurse in an inpatient psychiatric hospital with adolescent, adult and geriatric populations addressing a wide variety of psychiatric needs ranging from acute to chronic.

Dan continues to be excited about helping others better understand the world around and within themselves. Finding ways to create more ease in patient’s daily lives with the unique challenges they may be facing continues to motivate his work as a PMHNP. Helping patients connect more fully to their lives, to the things that bring them joy and to finding ease in the day to day is the goal of his practice.

Outside of work, Dan finds great pleasure in reading, listening to a wide variety of music, dancing, skiing, meditating and spending meaningful time with friends and family sharing food, stories and laughter.
