Nicoline Frinwie, PMHNP-BC, psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner in Boulder and Denver, Colorado

(Preferred pronouns: She/her/hers)

*Nicoline sees patients 8 and up and is available at our Boulder and Denver clinics.

Nicoline started her nursing career in 2016 at a nursing care center. She worked to establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families. She also made it her goal to promote patient independence by establishing patient care goals; teaching and counseling patients, friends, and family; and reinforcing their understanding of disease, medications, and self-care skills. She brings this wealth of knowledge to her work with patients at Larson Mental Health.

As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in Denver and Boulder, Nicoline is driven to build strong relationships with patients and their families. Her goal is to act as a patient advocate to achieve the best possible outcomes. She comes to Larson Mental Health with extensive training in assessing chronically mentally ill/chemical dependent patients and providing medication management and care coordination. While Nicoline treats a wide variety of mental health concerns, she specializes in the treatment of patients with psychiatric, chemical dependency, and dual diagnosis concerns including but not limited to depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, substance abuse, anxiety, ADHD, schizophrenia/psychosis, bipolar disorder, grief, life transitions, school issues, self-esteem issues, and self-harm.

Nicoline believes that managing mental health is essential and at times a task not easily accomplished alone. To this end, in addition to psychotherapy, Nicoline advises patients when pharmacological treatments may also be useful. She practices evidence-based care to ensure that each patient has the most updated treatment options while using an integrative and holistic approach that targets the individual. She values and understands the importance of formulating lasting and trusting relationships with her patients. Her care is comprehensive, and she loves to educate/work with her patients on treatment options that best fit their unique individual needs.
